The Question Challenge is a flexible challenge type that lets you add questions to your game. Questions can be created on the spot, saved to the Question Bank, and reused or edited across multiple games.
How to Start Creating a Question
There are two ways to create a question. All questions are created within the Question Bank, so they can be reused across multiple games.
1. From a Treasure Hunt Game
- Create a point and navigate to the “Challenges” tab.
- Click “Add a challenge” → “Question” → “New Question”.
2. Shortcut via the Question Bank Tool
- Go to the left side menu of the Locatify Builder, under “Resources & Tools”, and click “Question Bank”.
- Click “New Question”.

Note: If you create your question from the Question Bank Tool, remember that you will need to create a treasure hunt game with at least one point or station (depending on the type of treasure hunt) and attach your question to it in order for it to appear in the app.

Question Types:
Depending on how you want players to interact with your game, you can create different types of questions:
1. Written Answers
Players type their own answer instead of choosing from a list.
There are two ways to evaluate open-ended answers:
- Open-Ended – any written answer is accepted.
- Exact answer match required – the player must enter a specific correct answer.
This question type is ideal for riddles, code words, observation challenges, creative tasks or for collecting feedback.
2. Multiple-Choice Questions
Players select an answer from a list of predefined options.
For each answer, you can:
- Mark it as correct or incorrect
- Link it to a new question - Question Tree (What is the Question Tree?)
- Link it to an existing question from the Question Bank
This allows you to create:
- Simple quizzes
- Branching question paths
- Multi-layered treasure hunt logic
For each question type, you can add an image to the question or the answers, include a hint for the question, and customize the message shown when an answer is correct or incorrect.
Scores, Penalties, and Number of Tries
For each challenge type, including the Question Challenge, you can assign scores to determine how much each challenge is worth.
With the Question Challenge, you can also assign penalty points when players use a hint.
Finally, you can set the number of tries, giving players more than one chance to answer the question correctly. This allows you to control difficulty and encourage learning or exploration within your game.
To set this up, navigate to the main challenge page and configure the score and penalty values for your question.
Where to Find Scores and Answers
In the Game Control, you can see each match that has been created. From there, you can:
Monitor the scores and answers for each challenge type
Check the answers for open-ended questions
Where can I find the scoreboard?
This makes it easy to track player progress and evaluate performance across your games.
