Menu items are the buttons on your app's front page — this is where you set up the core sections of your app. You can add as many as you'd like; if they don't all fit on one page, a scroll-down button will be added automatically.
Menu items consist of text, custom icons, and can be translated into multiple languages.
Menu items and their content can be edited in real time, at any time. Make sure menu items are "Active", then click "Publish Menu" for your edits to show — this usually takes a couple of minutes to take effect.
Until your app is built, the preview shown in the CMS is a virtual app. You can test menu items and content there, while tours and treasure hunt projects can be tested live in our shared apps — TurfHunt or Locatify SmartGuide.
The app's front page template needs to be chosen first. Navigate to the Branded Assets tab to select it before editing menu items here.
Menu Item Icons
The icons shown by default are our standard set, but these can be fully customized. Icons can be added in color, plain colors, or with a transparent background.
We recommend using a consistent style across all your icons — for example, the same line weight — so your menu feels cohesive.
You can find icons online through tools like Canva or The Noun Project.
Only the Menu and Tiles app front page templates support menu item icons.
Menu Item Types
We offer the following types of menu items, which can be created and edited at any time from the Locatify Builder CMS:
- Map — Showing game/tour start locations & info points.
- Tours/Games — List or grid with games and/or tours, which can be segmented using optional customizable categories.
- Services — Grid page with info points (points of interest like restaurants, hotels, etc.), which can be segmented with categories and subcategories.
- External URL — Button that links to an external website.
- Page — Choose from two default templates or create your own (using HTML or CSS). The default templates let you add content such as the app rating, image sliders, accordions, opening hours, and URL links.
- Redeem code — Redeems invitation codes or vouchers for tours and games.
- Review App — Links to the App Store and Play Store.
- Leaderboard — View overall player rankings and results from games played.
- Delete Content — Lets users delete all content they've downloaded in the app.
- Logout — For apps that allow their users to log in (optional).
Looking for Something Custom?
Beyond the standard menu items above, we can also build entirely custom menu items — for example, connecting to an external API for a chatbot, showing nearby live events, traffic, or weather forecasts, and more.
