G. Privacy Policy Link — Add the tailored text we provide to your website or a dedicated page.
H. Data Privacy & App Content — Handled entirely by Locatify — no action needed.
I. In-App Purchases — Add at least one purchasable item, if enabled (not applicable for Locatify-hosted apps).
If your app is hosted under Locatify's developer accounts, the information below still applies to you — it will be requested through a form instead of being entered directly into Google Play Console or App Store Connect.
We suggest having your Google Play Console and App Store Connect accounts open as you follow the steps in this guide (applies only if you have your own developer accounts).
Both the Android and iOS builds need to be uploaded to Google Play Console and App Store Connect before submission.
Once you're happy with the app builds, we'll need to prepare the store presence assets before going live on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This includes all the information and visuals that appear on your store listing when users search for your app — and it plays an important role in making a strong first impression.
A. Content Readiness
For Apple and Google review, the app needs complete content, live and listed publicly in the app (no redeem code will be used for the review). This includes:
- Even if tours/games are short, they must be fully complete
- No missing content, empty links, or unfinished text
- All connected media — images, audio, video, text — fully in place
- All info points used in the app — on the map and/or as a list
Anything incomplete could delay or block approval. We'll let you know when we're preparing to submit your builds — make sure your live project is ready beforehand.
B. Graphics
| Asset | Platform | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| App icon | iOS | Square PNG, 1024×1024px, no transparency (required) |
| App icon | Android | Square PNG or JPEG, 512×512px, up to 1MB (required) |
| Feature Graphic* | Android only | PNG or JPEG, 1024×500px, up to 15MB (required) |
| Screenshots* | Android | Minimum 2 screenshots - Android smartphone (required); Android Tablet (optional) |
| Screenshots* | iOS | Minimum 3 screenshots - iOS smartphone and iPad (required) |
*A feature graphic is a banner-style image displayed at the top of your app's Play Store listing, often used to showcase your app's branding or key visuals. Google recommends vibrant, uncluttered visuals with key elements centered, consistent branding with your app icon, no performance/ranking claims, and alt text for accessibility.
*Screenshots: For more details on screenshot requirements, see the next section "Screenshots" in Store Submission.
Google Play Console:
To upload your assets, navigate to Grow users → Store presence → Store listings → scroll down to Edit Default Store Listing.
App Store Connect:
To upload your assets, click on your app. Under the Distribution tab in the left-side menu, click on the build under Prepare for Submission.
C. Promotional Text and URLs
- App name — up to 30 characters. This is the name shown in the app stores (not the name shown on the device's home screen menu). Since app names can clash with existing ones, a distinctive name also helps differentiate your app and improves search visibility.
- Subtitle (iOS only) — can be the same as the app name, or different (e.g., app "Aville," subtitle "Andersonville Neighborhood app").
- Promotional text (iOS only) — highlights current features.
- Short description (Android only) — up to 80 characters.
- Full description — up to 4,000 characters. Focus on what the app is about — avoid mentioning discounts, sales, or including any URLs.
- Keywords (iOS only) — help users find your app in search.
- Support URL (iOS only) — visible on the App Store.
- Marketing URL (iOS only) — visible on the App Store.
- Copyright (iOS only) — the rights holder's name, preceded by the year (e.g., "2026 Acme Inc.").
- Support email address (Android) — visible on the App Store.
- Website (Android) — visible on the App Store.
- Support Phone number (Android, optional) — visible on the App Store.
Google Play Console:
To enter your promotional text, navigate to Grow users → Store presence → Store listings, then scroll down to Edit Default Store Listing.
To enter the support contact details, navigate to Grow users → Store presence → Store listings, then scroll down to Store listing contact details.
App Store Connect:
To enter your promotional text and URLs, go to the Distribution tab in the left-side menu and click on the build under Prepare for Submission.
App Name and Subtitle: under General → App Information.
D. Store Page Languages
You can add your store listing in as many languages as you'd like — these are separate per-country store pages. Doing this manually means translating all store text (description, keywords, etc.) into each language, and providing matching screenshots in that language as well.
If you don't set this up manually, no need to worry — Google Play and the App Store typically offer AI-translated versions of your store page automatically for other languages.
Google Play Console:
To add a new language store page, navigate to Grow users → Store presence → Store listings, then scroll down to Edit Default Store Listing.
App Store Connect:
To add a new language store page, go to the Distribution tab in the left-side menu and click on the build under Prepare for Submission.
E. App Category & Tags
Google and Apple require you to select a category for your app before publishing.
- Google: Choose a category and tags for your app or game — Play Console Help. Categories are listed under "Apps" — most of our clients choose Entertainment or Travel & Local.
- Apple: Categories and Discoverability — App Store — Apple Developer.
Google Play Console: To add the Category & Tags, go over the dashboard checklist or navigate to Grow users → Store presence → Store Settings
App Store Connect: To add the Category, go to the General tab, then click on App Information.
F. Content Rating and Target Audience
Both Google and Apple require you to indicate the age groups your app is intended for, and whether it contains content suitable for children.
Google Play Console:
Apps & Games content ratings on Google Play - Google Play Help. To edit the content rating, go over the dashboard checklist or navigate to Monitor and improve → Policy and programs → App Content. Select "All other app types".
Manage target audience and app content settings — Play Console Help. To edit the target audience, go over the dashboard checklist or navigate to Monitor and improve → Policy and programs → App Content.
App Store Connect: To edit the target audience, go to the General tab, then click on App Information under Age Ratings.
G. Privacy Policy Link
See the separate guide: Privacy Policy — Branded App for details on how to set this up. Once ready, paste the URL into the allocated field in the CMS — Locatify will review it before uploading it to Apple and Google.
H. Data Privacy & App Content
You're welcome to have a look at these sections if you're curious, but no action is needed from you here — they're technical and will be completed by the Locatify team on your behalf.
I. In-App Purchases (if enabled)
If In-App Purchases is turned on for your app, at least one purchasable item must be added before submission. See: Add In-App Purchases in the Locatify Builder, connect to your Google Play and Apple Connect Account – Locatify for guidance.
📌 In-App Purchases is not available for apps hosted under Locatify's developer accounts.
Please do not publish any app build to production in your Google or Apple developer accounts — save it as a draft instead. Our team will take care of this step.
If you need help at any point, feel free to contact your Locatify app representative — we're happy to assist.
